LaTroy is a hip-hop, pop and lock[2] and animation dancer[3]. He is a former member of A-Troupe, B-Troupe and TNS West.

LaTroy auditions for A-Troupe with Sloane after Internationals. Despite his wariness at having to audition with contemporary choreography, LaTroy makes it onto the troupe.[4][5]

LaTroy is saddened that Sloane will not be auditioning, but is appreciative of her supporting him.[2]

LaTroy is irate when he isn't even permitted to audition for A-Troupe and is automatically sent to B-Troupe.[2] He is the second to join TNS West.[6]

LaTroy is offered the role of Luther Brown's assistant on his new tour and takes the job, leaving the studio.[3]

Biography

Before the show

LaTroy met Sloane when he was very young after she threw a toy truck at his head. He later became her best friend.[7] Some time later, LaTroy made Sloane cycle off of a ramp, which ended badly.[7]

Ever since he was five, LaTroy's father was absent from his life. On several occasions he would promise to see LaTroy but would never show up.[8]

Season 4

During the auditions for A-Troupe, LaTroy has trouble with Daniel's contemporary choreography. Knowing that he cannot master it, he incorporates hip-hop moves into the routine[4] and makes it onto the troupe.[5]

LaTroy is thrilled when he receives a text from his estranged father in which he claims that he wants to meet. His utter excitement causes him to ditch Sloane. LaTroy is disappointed when his father does not show up and choreographs a solo for Sloane as an apology.[8]

LaTroy approaches Amy.

LaTroy realizes that he needs to become a more versatile dancer and asks Amy to help him learn a contemporary combo. LaTroy not only learns some contemporary, but bonds with Amy in the process.[9]

LaTroy acts on his feelings for Amy when assured by her about their chemistry by asking Amy out. LaTroy is shocked at Sloane's hostile response to this and even more shocked when she reveals that she has feelings for him. Despite this, he still dates Amy, tarnishing his friendship with Sloane.[10] Hoping to reconnect with his father, LaTroy takes up his offer to renovate a farmhouse with him for a while. He is met with understanding from Amy for leaving and anger from Sloane, but decides that he has to choose his family.[11]

While at the farmhouse, LaTroy finally has a proper conversation with Sloane, even if it is virtual.[12] He is elated when Sloane decides that she wants to be his best friend again.[13]

LaTroy's trip proves to be futile however, as his father remains distant, so he is happy to return to The Next Step.[14] His return causes him to question his feelings for Amy and Sloane.[14]

Ebttrt latroy tells sloane he loves her

LaTroy tells Sloane that he loves her.

LaTroy kisses Amy at Regionals and assures her that he loves her, but confesses that he doesn't feel anything. Although, while comforting Sloane after she is disqualified from Regionals for performing choreography during the solo round, he tells her that she loves her and means it.[15]

Realizing that he actually wants to be with Sloane, LaTroy breaks up with Amy and tells Sloane about his intentions. He is thrilled when Sloane assures him that she wants to be with him as well and kisses her.[16]

Season 5

LaTroy is disappointed when Sloane decides to leave The Next Step before the next dance season, but is excited to audition again nonetheless. He is frustrated when he is instantly cut by Emily for being a hip-hop dancer, and is happy to accept Michelle's offer to join TNS West.[2][6]

LaTroy is disappointed after TNS West loses the dance battle against TNS East and feels despondent about his position at The Next Step. He is therefore ecstatic when Sloane unexpectedly turns up at the studio and reveals that LaTroy is being offered a job as Luther Brown's assistant. Despite being sad to leave The Next Step, LaTroy accepts the job without hesitation.[10]

Season 6

Upon Kingston's request to stand out more on A-Troupe, LaTroy visits The Next Step to choreograph a dance. He grows frustrated, due to Ozzy's lack of focus to the dance but eventually pulls off a proficient hip-hop quintet, with Finn, Henry, Kingston and Ozzy.[17]

Fresh off his tour with Luther Brown, LaTroy, alongside Sloane, is invited by Emily and Michelle to choreograph a dance for A-Troupe for the hip-hop round at Regionals. He choreographs the girls' dance and encourages Davis to stop smiling when dancing.[18]

Personality

LaTroy prizes uniqueness and individuality. LaTroy is extremely confident, a trait which sometimes verges on conceit and blindness to his weaknesses. LaTroy often needs others to make him aware of his flaws. In relation to this, LaTroy also tends to be quite oblivious. For instance, LaTroy cannot see that Amy and Sloane like him romantically until he is explicitly told so.[10]

LaTroy often attempts to be the mediator, like he does with Sloane and Amy, but usually fails. He is also extremely hopeful, proven by the number of second chances that he provides his deadbeat father with, which may contribute to his peacemaking nature.

Physical appearance

Characteristics

LaTroy has dark skin and dark brown eyes. He has black hair. In his latest appearance, he has a goatee.

Attire

LaTroy's attire is very casual; it consists almost entirely of t-shirts, jackets and sweatpants. His wardrobe mostly consists of red, blue, black, and white clothing.
