Hip-hop is a type of dance that is seen on The Next Step.

History

Hip-hop a dance genre that started in the 1960s by African-Americans in New York City.[1] It is characterized by things such as rap music, b-boying, and grafitti art.[1] It is less of a disciplinary technique than other dance genres, and rather encourages feeling the music.[1]

Tiffany is the first hip-hop dancer known to join A-Troupe, followed by West. From the beginning of Season 2 to the beginning of Season 4, there is only one hip-hop dancer in A-Troupe, that individual being West. After West leaves, A-Troupe is left without hip-hop dancers.

Currently, there are three hip-hop dancers in A-Troupe: Sloane, Henry and LaTroy.
