Absolute Dance Internationals (colloquially known as Internationals) is the competition following the Absolute Dance Nationals and the final competition in the Absolute Dance series. When a studio wins this competition, they are labelled as the best dance studio in the world. The first ever Absolute Dance Internationals competition took place in 1998.

History

Internationals is a worldwide event, consisting of teams who won the preceding Nationals competitions, meaning that a single team from each country competes. Each year, Internationals takes place in a different location. The winner of the Internationals competition is considered the best dance studio in the world. As of 2017, there are 160 competing countries.

Similar to Nationals, Internationals has a host of different rounds involving different types of dances. Unlike Nationals, the Internationals board decide upon a twist for each round, barring the soloist and 10-person dance rounds. The qualifying teams will only find out the twist on the morning of said round.

Rules

  • Studios are allowed to bring 12 dancers along to the competition, however 2 of which are alternates.
  • Unlike preceeding competitions, studio's are slowly revealed information regarding the specific rounds and rules that will relate to the competition. These are passed out via post, as letters.
  • Studio's are all required to elect a Dance Captain who are revealed information directly from the Internationals board in relation to the upcoming twist for the specific round.
