Josh is a hip-hop dancer, formerly on A-Troupe.

Despite previously being an athlete, Josh decides that he wants to pursue dance. When he and his family move to the city for his brother's hockey career, Josh auditions for A-Troupe.[2] He does not initially make the team,[2] but is later brought in to replace Michelle.[3]

Biography

Before the show

Josh played hockey, soccer and baseball, but eventually grew interested in dance.[2]

The Off Season: Season 1

While playing hockey with his brother, Adam, Josh expresses his wish of auditioning for The Next Step Dance Studio as opposed to pursuing hockey.[4]

Season 5

Josh moves to the city with his family so that his brother will have better opportunities for hockey.[4]

Josh is disappointed when he doesn't make it onto A-Troupe, and becomes a member of B-Troupe.[2] Wanting to improve his dancing, Josh books appointments with Daniel to improve his technique and practices from 7:00 A.M. This commitment leads to Josh being accepted onto the troupe, now dubbed TNS East, as a replacement for Michelle.[3]

Josh is confused at Zara's tardiness to rehearsal, and even more so by her lie that her parents had a flat tire. He is fascinated to learn that the reason for her lateness is that she is a mathlete, but learns that her quarter final competition is on the same day as the dance battle against TNS West.[5] When he discovers that Zara has told no one else about the clashing events and doesn't intend to, Josh tells Emily about the situation himself to protect the team. Josh is elated when the team wins the dance battle,[6] but angry when the studio is disallowed from competing at Regionals, deeming it Noah's fault.[7]

Josh is congratulatory of Adam when he makes it onto the Springfield Coyotes, but becomes frustrated when he realizes that he will have to leave The Next Step, as his family will have to move up north.[8] Nonetheless, Josh joins the newly merged A-Troupe.[9] Josh feels pity for Adam when he is ultimately kicked off the Springfield Coyotes, but is happy that he can stay at the studio.[10]

After the merge, Josh begins to spend lots of time with Piper, and views her as a really close friend. He is therefore shocked when Piper reveals her romantic feelings for him, and is quick to reveal that he does not feel the same.[11]

Josh is elated when the team qualifies for Regionals.[11]

Season 6

According to Piper, Josh has left The Next Step Dance Studio after having qualified for Regionals.[12]

Personality

Josh is a jovial individual who tends to smile and make jokes. Sometimes, he cracks jokes when he isn't supposed to, such as during rehearsal.[13] Nonetheless, he is still taken seriously by his peers, notably in comparison to Ozzy.[9] He is known as someone who gives lots of hugs.[11]

Josh is incredibly hardworking; he practices his dancing as early as 7:00am, asks for technical help, and books private sessions with Daniel in the hopes of improving enough to get onto A-Troupe, efforts which ultimately prove successful.[3]
