Lyrical dance (commonly referred to as, merely, lyrical) is a dance style that, albeit is admitted minimally, is frequently performed on The Next Step.

History Edit

Lyrical dance originated in Russia in the early twentieth century. It became a popular dance style in the 1970s where it was often deemed as a subgenre of jazz dance of which told a story and had classical ballet technique.[1]

Lyrical dance is occasionally deemed as a combination of techniques from jazz, ballet and contemporary. Hence the name, lyrical is set to songs with lyrics in it which the dancer connects to with the dance.[2]
