Lyrical dance, usually referred to as just lyrical, is a dance style that is frequently performed on The Next Step.
History
Lyrical dance originated in Russia in the early twentieth century. It became a popular dance style in the 1970s where it was often deemed as a subgenre of jazz dance of which told a story and had classical ballet technique.[1]
Lyrical dance is occasionally deemed as a combination of techniques from jazz, ballet and contemporary. Hence the name, lyrical is set to songs with lyrics in it which the dancer connects to with the dance.[2]
