This article is about characters speaking directly to the audience. You may be looking for characters' inner monologues. You can find the disambiguation page here.

During real world commentary (abbreviated as RWC[1]) one or more fictional characters breaks the fourth wall by directly speaking to the audience.

Description Edit

In real world commentary, one or more characters speak directly to the audience as a means of advisory, as opposed to Talking Heads, where characters reveal their inner monologue. Sometimes, the characters converse with each other in RWCs.

Real world commentary is done in every episode (except for season openers) when "Previously on The Next Step" is said at the beginning of the episode. Real world commentary less regularly appears during the actual course of the episode.
