Taking the Next Step is a CBBC original series. It started on June 13, 2016. Series 1 consists of 11 30-minute episodes, all of which have aired on CBBC. The first victor of the show is Khyrese Heron, who plays Cooper who appears in "Here Comes Your Man". The second victor of the show is Harrison Vaughan, who plays Oliver in an unknown episode of Season 6. Taking the Next Step premiered on Family Channel on August 12, 2016 with the first two episodes.
Series 2 was announced on February 7, 2017 and began filming on April 22, 2017. It aired on October 9, 2017.

Taking the Next Step is now inviting successful dancers to attend auditions in Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester and London, with the successful candidates going forward to attend national auditions. From the nationals, the judges will select a final six to travel to Canada and continue the selection process, moving even closer to The Next Step dream! Once in Canada, the pressure is really on as they meet the cast and perform challenges on set in The Next Step studios. Only one of them can achieve the ultimate goal and be chosen for the coveted guest role on The Next Step, season four.
